AWAIT (Adoption Waiting: Anxiety, Intensity, Triumph!) was formed for families waiting to adopt and is designed to support you through the adoption process.
AWAIT On-Demand
History: AFFGS has a long tradition of supporting families who are waiting to adopt. We met once per month to share where we were on our journeys and to ask each other questions about what our next steps should be. Since the pandemic, many services moved to a virtual/on-demand format. AWAIT was included in that. In 2025, AFFGS attempted to return AWAIT to in-person meetings. It turns out that the face of adoption changed along with everything else. It seems that far fewer waiting families are in need of a monthly support group. There are significantly fewer adoptions now than prior to the pandemic, and people now have access to tools like AI that allow them to navigate the complexities of adoption in a different way than those going through the process even in 2020. Because AFFGS is committed to supporting families touched by adoption in whatever way they need, we are trying a new format.
